Bertrand Tilghman
Partner
Bertrand tries the firm's cases to juries and judges, and prepares every witness as if the trial were next week.
He handles commercial property disputes, insurance coverage cases for businesses and the contract cases that don't settle. Before joining the firm he spent several years defending companies in product and contract cases, which is why he knows what the other side's lawyers are told to do.
He coaches a youth rowing crew on the Christina River on weekends in the spring.

How Bertrand works
He builds the trial outline in the first month, even in cases that will probably settle, because the outline tells him which documents and witnesses matter.
Clients see the questions he plans to ask them before their deposition, and they practise the answers out loud.
